DHAKA, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has cleared the way of Nagorik Oikya’s President Mahmudur Rahman Manna to contest in the upcoming 13th national election.

On the second day of reviewing the appeals, the EC today okayed candidacy of 58 aspirants including Manna upon accepting their appeals.

Earlier, the returning officer had cancelled the nomination paper of Manna on allegation of loan default. But, his candidacy was declared legal after hearing of his appeal.

After getting back his candidacy in Bogura-2 constituency, Manna in an immediate reaction at Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon here said that the election commission has shown its wisdom with the past two days activities.

“It indicates the inclusive election,” he said, adding that today’s verdict has cleared that the conspiracy doesn’t exist for a longer period in the struggle of establishing the democracy.

“My home is in Bogura from where I took part in the election earlier. Whatever was done this time to prevent me from contesting the national election from Bogura-1 is called mobocracy in word,” he said.

Manna is contesting the 13th national election scheduled for February 12 next from Bogura-2 and Dhaka-18 constituency as the EC declared his candidacy legal for both the seats.
