DHAKA, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested four individuals in connection with the sensational murder of former general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Swecchasebak Dal’s Dhaka North City Unit Md. Azizur Rahman Musabbir in the capital’s Tejturi Bazar area, claiming to have largely unravelled the mystery behind the killing.
They were arrested in separate raids in Dhaka, Manikganj, Mymensingh and Netrokona districts.
The arrestees are two shooters Jinnat (24) and Md. Billal. Abdul Qadir (28), who allegedly helped the accused, went into hiding after the incident; and Md. Riaz (31), who acted as a spotter a day before the murder.
Chief of Detective Branch (DB) of police Md Shafiqul Islam made the disclosure in a press briefing held at DMP Medial Cell on Minto Road here today.
“Efforts were ongoing to uncover the full motive behind the killing and to trace and recover the firearms used in the murder,” he said.
Musabbir was shot dead by unidentified assailants at around 8:30pm on Thursday in an alleyway beside Hotel Super Star in West Tejturi Para.
Another man, Sufian Bepari Masud (40), was also shot and later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for improved treatment.
Following the incident, Musabbir’s wife filed a murder case with Tejgaon Police Station against four to five unknown persons.
The case was subsequently handed over to the DB for intensive investigation.
DB sources said multiple teams were formed immediately after the killing.
By analyzing CCTV footage from the scene and statements from witnesses, detectives identified those involved in the killing.
On Saturday, DB teams carried out coordinated raids in Dhaka, Manikganj, Mymensingh and Netrokona, and rounded them up.
Police also recovered a motorcycle without a number plate, believed to have been used in the murder, and TK 6,000 in cash from the suspects’ possessions.
Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are underway, while operations are on to arrest the fugitives.
