DHAKA, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation led by former United States Acting Under Secretary of State Albert T. Gombis paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at the party’s central office here today.
The meeting, which was held in a cordial manner, focused on the current political situation in Bangladesh, the upcoming national parliamentary elections and the referendum.
Both the parties emphasized the importance of further strengthening and deepening the friendly ties between Bangladesh and the United States for the benefit of the two country's people.
The other members of the delegation included former US ambassador Morse H. Tan, Secretary General of the Muslim Ummah of North America and director of a chartered accounting firm Arman Chowdhury, and New York-based US business leader Faisal Alam.
Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General and head of the party’s central publicity and media department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, central executive council members- Mobarak Hossain, Engineer Dr Jubayer Ahmed, Barrister Nazrul Islam, Professor Saifullah Mansur, Engineer Sirajul Islam and Barrister Arman Ahmed bin Qasem were present during the meeting.
