DHAKA, Jan 09, 2026 (BSS) - The Investigation Officer (IO) in the case filed over the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has named 77 people, including Hadi's brother Omar Bin Hadi and Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber, as witnesses in the charge-sheet.
Inspector Foysal Ahmed of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police submitted the charge-sheet on January 6 against 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum. Of them, 11 have been arrested, so far, and are now in jail.
The IO also prayed to the court to issue arrest warrants against the six fugitive accused, including the alleged shooter.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam took cognizance of the charge-sheet on January 7. The court also issued a notice on January 8, asking the complainant to appear before it on January 12 to inform whether there is any objection to the charge-sheet submitted by the IO.
The six fugitive accused are Foysal Karim Masud, his accomplice Alamgir Hossain, alleged mastermind and former ward councillor Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappi, Filips Smal, Mukti Akter and Jesmin Akter.
The arrested accused include alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud's father Humayun Kabir, mother Hashi Begum, wife Shaheda Parvin Samia, brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu and alleged girlfriend Maria Akter Lima. Others arrested are Md Kabir, Nuruzzaman Nomani alias Ujjal, Civion Dew, Sanjay Chisim, Aminul Islam Raju and Abdul Hannan Foysal.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling on a battery-run rickshaw and then fled the scene on December 12.
Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on December 20 ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially filed as an attempted murder, following Hadi's death on December 18.
