DHAKA, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock over the death of Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir.
In a condolence message today, Fakhrul said, "Saboteurs are engaged in sinister activities to create anarchy in the country and benefit from it."
"After the fall of the Awami autocratic ruling clique in the student-public movement, saboteurs have again engaged in sinister activities to create an unstable situation in the country and benefit through anarchy. The tragic incident of the killing of former General Secretary of Dhaka Mohanagar North Swechchhasebak Dal Azizur Rahman Musabbir in the cruel and barbaric attack by saboteurs is a brutal manifestation of that sinister activity," he added.
On January 7, saboteurs shot and brutally killed Azizur Rahman Musabbir.
Pointing out that such horrific incidents are being repeated to put the current interim government in a difficult position, the BNP Secretary General said, "There is no alternative to suppressing these saboteurs with a strong hand. To establish democracy and people's voting rights and protect the lives and property of the countrymen, people from all classes and professions, regardless of party affiliation, must remain united. Otherwise, the lurking accomplices of Awami fascists will rise up and become desperate to endanger the country's existence."
In the condolence message, Mirza Fakhrul strongly demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the saboteurs who killed Azizur Rahman Musabbir.
He prayed for the peace of the departed soul of Musabbir and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
