DHAKA, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) – Police arrested at least 45 people in separate day-long special operations conducted across Uttara West, Mugda, Hatirjheel and Uttara Purba police station areas in the last 24 hours. 

Confirming their arrest Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that the arrestees were involved in various criminal activities, including drug-related offenses and regular cases. 

Police seized ganja, contrabands yaba tablets and a stolen private car during the drives. 

All detainees were produced before the court, while some were sentenced to jail terms ranging from five days to over six months under the DMP Ordinance Act. 

Police said such special operations will continue to maintain law and order in the city.
