DHAKA, Jan 05, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the attachment of 23.50 katha plots, shares of land, 12 flats owned by assistant chief accountant of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), Khandaker Muhammad Iqbal.
The court also ordered to freeze three bank accounts of Iqbal.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The CID plea said accused Khandaker Muhammad Iqbal abused his position while serving as Assistant Chief Accountant and Head of the Accounts Department at BCIC.
During his tenure, he allegedly prepared numerous fake and forged bills and vouchers in the name of the Shahjalal Fertilizer Project and, through fraud and forgery, embezzled a total of Taka 38.83 crore.
Using the embezzled money, he purchased flats, vehicles and land, becoming the owner of vast illegal assets through money laundering and related offences.
The investigation found that the accused owns 23.5 kathas of land, 11 shares of land, and 12 flats, with a total deed value of Taka 8.47 crore.
