Shafiqur, Mamunul's nominations declared valid

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2026 (BSS) – The Returning Officer today declared valid the nomination paper of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman for the Dhaka-15 constituency in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election. 

The nomination paper of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Md Mamunul Haque for the Dhaka-13 constituency was also declared valid.

Returning Officer and Regional Election Officer Md Yunus Ali announced the decisions following scrutiny of the nomination papers.

Besides, the nomination paper of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate Bobby Hajjaj for the Dhaka-13 seat was declared valid.

In Dhaka-15 constituency, the Returning Officer also declared valid the nomination paper of BNP candidate Md Shafiqul Islam Khan.

Among the 11 candidates contesting in Dhaka-13, nomination papers of five candidates were rejected while six were found valid, Md Yunus Ali told BSS.

In Dhaka-15 constituency, nomination papers of three out of nine candidates were rejected and six were declared valid, he added.

The Returning Officer said the decisions were taken after completion of the scrutiny process. Candidates whose nomination papers have been rejected will be provided copies of the verdict tomorrow and will have the opportunity to file appeals.

According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC), scrutiny of nomination papers by Returning Officers will conclude tomorrow, January 4 (Sunday).

The period for filing appeals against the Returning Officers’ decisions will run from January 5 to January 9.

Appeals will be disposed of between January 10 and January 18.
