KHULNA, Dec 31, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former member of parliament Mia Golam Parwar has said there is no alternative to honest leadership for ensuring good governance, development and overall progress in the country.

He, however, said greed, fear and self-interest are gradually eroding people's ability to choose the right leadership.

Parwar was addressing a conference of the party's female associate members as the chief guest at Deruli Krishnanagar Government Primary School ground in Raghunathpur Union of Dumuria upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

The Jamaat secretary general, also the party-nominated candidate for the Khulna-5 constituency, said the younger generation expects merit-based, honest and patriotic leadership.

Calling upon the youth to come forward to fulfil their aspirations, he urged them to vote for the party's "Scales" symbol.

He said establishing honest, competent and God-fearing leadership is indispensable to overcoming the ongoing national crisis.

Despite political differences, Parwar stressed the need for unity in the national interest, saying various conspiracies may emerge on the path to building a fascism-free new Bangladesh. However, he urged all to move forward united in the electoral journey by upholding the spirit of July.

Among others, Khulna district assistant secretary Prof Miah Golam Quddus, district executive council member Advocate Abu Yusuf Mollah, upazila nayeb-e-ameer Gazi Saifullah and Maulana Habibur Rahman, upazila Hindu committee president Dr Haridas Mondol, secretary Principal Deb Prasad Mondol, upazila secretary Master Abdur Rashid Biswas, upazila executive council member Amanullah Haldar and Maulana Foyez Uddin addressed the programme.

Earlier, Parwar addressed a courtyard meeting at Gobindakati. On the same day, he attended separate conferences of male and female associate members. Meanwhile, a Hindu supporters' rally was also held in Dhamalia Union and in the Maynapur area.
