CUMILLA, Dec 22, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and BNP-nominated candidate for Cumilla-6 constituency Monirul Haque Chowdhury today said the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election will be an election to protect the country, the nation and democracy.

In the election, BNP will be elected with the people’s mandate, Insha’Allah, and Tarique Rahman will be the head of the elected government, whose leadership in rebuilding the country will be world-shaking, he added.

Monirul Haque Chowdhury made the remarks while speaking at a doa mahfil organized seeking recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at the Bibi Bazar High School ground in Jagannathpur Union of Sadar Upazila here in the district this afternoon.

He said that it was the historic meeting in London between BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, held with the consent of Begum Khaleda Zia, which led the country towards the election.

Mentioning that a vested quarter has been hatching various conspiracies since August 5 to keep the country away from the election, he said that conspiracies have not yet stopped and that is people must remain vigilant to resist these conspiracies.

He further said the party’s leader Begum Khaleda Zia is in a critical condition at this critical juncture of the country and “her recovery is extremely necessary at this moment for the party and for the country”.

Regarding Cumilla, Monirul Haque Chowdhury said when he worked to develop Sadar South, he pledged that if given the opportunity, he would also develop Cumilla. “Allah has given me the opportunity. Elect me and give me the chance to carry out development. 

Presided over by Mominul Islam Talukder, the doa mahfil was attended, among others, by BNP Central Assistant Organizing Secretary Mostak Mia, BNP Central Committee Member Syed Jahangir Alam, Cumilla City BNP President Utbatul Bari Abu, South District BNP General Secretary Ashiqur Rahman Mahmud Wasim, Senior Vice-President Amiruzzaman Bhuiyan Amir, Organizing Secretary Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan Swapan, Sadar South Upazila BNP President Advocate Akhtar Hossain and General Secretary Faruk Chowdhury, along with leaders and activists of the district and city units.
