Stay united to resist attempts to foil trials, elections: Zonayed Saki

DHAKA, Dec 22, 2025 (BSS) - Chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki today called upon the country’s people to remain united to resist attempts to thwart trials, reforms, and elections.

He made this call while addressing a protest rally in front of Jatiya Press Club here.

Ganosamhati Andolon arranged the rally to protest the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, attacks on media and various institutions, harassment of New Age editor Nurul Kabir, lynching  and burning garments worker  Dipuchandra Das to death in Mymensingh, and the burning of child Ayesha Akhter in the house of BNP leader Belal Hossain in Lakshmipur.

Zonayed Saki said through the mass uprising, Bangladesh will move towards a democratic political system and a democratic settlement, for which trials, reforms, and elections are essential. 

“Whoever tries to sabotage it, the people will resist them by being united, imbued with the ideology of the July Uprising ,” he said.

He said those who killed Osman Hadi must be arrested and brought to justice while all killings that took place in the July must be tried. 

Saki said the government must also take action against the ongoing efforts to foil the elections. 

Those who attacked on the offices of Prothom Alo, The Daily Star or other cultural institutions and various people must also be brought to justice, he said.

At the rally, Ganosamhati Andolon executive coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel said those involved in the shooting of Motaleb Sikder, a leader of the NCP in Khulna, must be arrested by today.

Ganosamhati Andolon political council member Monir Uddin Pappu and central executive committee members Bachchu Bhuiyan, Deepak Kumar Roy, Amjad Hossain, Anjan Das and Lutfunnahar Sumana, Dhaka south city convener Alif Dewan and central advisory council member Group Captain (retd) Md Khaled Hossain also spoke at the rally, among others.
