DHAKA, Dec 22, 2025 (BSS) - Vietnam will launch direct flights between Dhaka and Hanoi from next month as both countries move to finalise a renewed Air Services Agreement, the Vietnamese envoy to Bangladesh said on Monday.

Vietnam Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong made the announcement while speaking to reporters at the Vietnam Embassy in Dhaka this evening.

“The Vietnam Airlines will start direct flight to Dhaka from next month,” the Ambassador said, terming the move a significant step in strengthening people-to-people contacts and economic engagement between the two countries.

He said Dhaka and Hanoi are currently working at the final stage of renewing the Air Services Agreement (ASA), which will provide the legal framework for expanded air connectivity.

“We are working at the final stage. I hope that we will be able to sign the agreement by this month,” he added.

The Ambassador expressed optimism that the introduction of direct flights would open new avenues for bilateral trade, tourism and investment, while also facilitating easier travel for businesspersons and officials.

He noted that enhanced air connectivity would contribute to closer cooperation between Bangladesh and Vietnam, reflecting the growing momentum in bilateral relations.
