DHAKA, Dec 22, 2025 (BSS) – A 71-member contingent of the Bangladesh Navy, in its second phase, left Dhaka today to participate in the “Bangladesh Force Marine Unit-11” deployed under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMIS).

The contingent will serve in South Sudan as a replacement for the “Bangladesh Force Marine Unit-10,” according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate today.

Earlier, on December 9, 2025, a 99-member first group of the Bangladesh Navy joined the above-mentioned peacekeeping mission. As per United Nations instructions, the Navy Force Marine Unit is deployed in South Sudan to maintain world peace.

The force remains engaged in ensuring the safe movement of barges carrying essential fuel, food, medicine and humanitarian aid in remote areas of South Sudan, monitoring and controlling piracy on waterways, and providing assistance to local communities in firefighting operations.

In addition, the peacekeepers regularly conduct operations to ensure the safety of civilian sailors working on barges, carry out rescue operations for vessels facing accidents, and transport necessary logistics for military and civilian personnel deployed in remote areas.

The press release said the Navy members have been performing their assigned duties with sincerity, dedication and efficiency in establishing peace in various conflict-affected regions across the world.

They have also been playing an important role in rescuing injured military and civilian personnel and providing emergency medical care, including diving assistance.
