DHAKA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) – Additional Inspector General of Police Khondoker Rafiqul Islam today said they have been working with topmost priority to detect the whereabouts of Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused of the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
“Intelligence agencies have been working to locate whereabouts of Faisal, main accused in Osman Hadi murder case,’ he said.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Bangladesh Secretariat here on Sunday evening regarding Operation Devil Hunt Phase 2 and the overall law and order situation.
He said police have no specific information about the current location of Faisal.
“However, our forces and the intelligence agencies have been working to locate Faisal,” he said.
He reminded that the criminals often spread misleading information about their whereabouts.
Asked about whether the law enforcement agencies could have failed to capture the perpetrators since 10 days have passed after the murder of Osman Hadi, Additional IGP said, “You can refer it as success or failure. But, we are mobilizing our best efforts to capture them.”
All the law enforcement agencies, including Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Detective Branch (DB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been working in this connection.
Replying to a question about involvement of any political party in the killing, he said that the investigation agency can say it.
“We can inform you the matter once the investigation is completed,” he said.
The people whose names surfaced linking with the incident have been put under surveillance, he said.
“We are collecting data and information in this respect,’ he said.
At the briefing, Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of police Additional Police Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said operations are continuing to arrest those involved in the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
“We are currently on hot pursuit for arresting the accused in the Hadi murder case,” he said.
The DB chief said they have so far arrested 10 people in connection with the case, adding that they have also recovered the motorcycle, weapon, bullets and passport used in the incident.
About the whereabouts of two key suspects, he said that different quarters are allegedly providing misleading information about their whereabouts.
“We are verifying the information about their location and continuing efforts to arrest them,” he said.
Replying to a query, he indicated that the killing may have been politically motivated rather than based on personal enmity.
Investigations revealed that the motorcycle’s number plate had been changed, which was later verified through BRTA records.
Authorities are also probing recovered cheques and related bank accounts.
