DHAKA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) – Wildlife Crimes Control Unit of the Forest Department has recovered 1,608 wild animals in October and November this year.
In November this year, the unit conducted 44 drives in different parts of the country and recovered 864 wild animals, including a freshwater crocodile (mugger), according to Department of Forest (DoF).
During the drives, two sound systems and 50 kilogrammes of 800 feet long traps (bird nets) were also seized and destroyed, while a total of 650 leaflets, posters, booklets and stickers were distributed to make commoners aware of wildlife.
Besides, 650 people were made aware of the Wildlife (Conservation and Protection) Act, 2012. In October this year, the Wildlife Crimes Control Unit conducted 42 drives and recovered 744 wild animals.
Of the recovered wild animals, eights are wildcats, while one was langur, 409 local turtles, two Asian palm civets, 50 Red-eared slider turtles, 268 wild birds, four snakes, one fox and one Tokay gecko.
During the drives, a total of 750 leaflets, posters, booklets and stickers were distributed and 750 people were made aware of the Wildlife (Conservation and Protection) Act, 2012.
