Ziaur Rahman initiated country's development: Abdul Halim

JAMALPUR, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - Adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former Cabinet Secretary ASM Abdul Halim today said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had initiated the process of nation-building and development in Bangladesh.

He said the founder of the BNP worked relentlessly for the country's economic development and the freedom of its people until his death. Following his leadership, Begum Khaleda Zia continued to guide the nation towards achieving development goals.

Abdul Halim made the remarks while addressing a discussion marking the Victory Day at the Islampur Upazila Auditorium in Jamalpur district.

ASM Abdul Halim alleged that terrorists linked to the ousted fascist government are currently active in creating anarchy ahead of the 13th parliamentary election. He urged BNP leaders and activists to remain vigilant against any terrorist activities.

Condemning the recent heinous attack on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, he demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible.

Referring to the upcoming parliamentary election, he requested voters to cast their ballots in favour of the BNP's electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy on February 12.

The meeting was presided over by BNP leader Md Joynal Abedin Sarkar.
