First automated fuel depot inaugurated in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) – The country’s first technology-based automated fuel marketing depot was inaugurated in Barura Upazila, Cumilla district.

“This technology-driven depot will make the nation’s fuel marketing system more transparent, faster, and safer, with no human involvement in fuel distribution,” Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman Md Amin ul Ahsan said.

Inaugurating the depot as the chief guest, he added that it has been established in the Mogbari area of Barura Upazila, alongside the Cumilla-Chandpur Highway.

According to officials, the automated petroleum depot was constructed at a cost of about Tk 118 crore under the Chittagong-Dhaka fuel pipeline transportation project.

Md Aminul Haque, General Manager of Petroleum Transmission Company PLC, delivered the welcome speech at the programme, which was chaired by Md Mofizur Rahman, Managing Director of Padma Oil PLC.

BPC Director and Joint Secretary Dr AKM Azadur Rahman, Commander of the 24 Engineer Construction Brigade Brigadier General Ariful Islam Khan, and Deputy Commissioner Md Reza Hasan also spoke at the event.

Representatives of the Cumilla Petrol-Pump Owners Association, Tank-Lorry Owners Association, and Workers’ Union were present and spoke at the programme.

The depot will be supervised by Padma Oil PLC.
