DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - A stash of firearms was recovered from a broken grave in Jagdishpur under Begumganj Police Station in Noakhali this morning following a call to the National Emergency Service 999.
According to police officials, the call was received at 10:30 am today by Constable Shakhawat, who was on duty at the emergency service desk.
The caller reported that while cleaning the local cemetery, several firearms were discovered inside a damaged grave.
Upon receiving the information, 999 dispatcher Sub Inspector Rezaul Karim immediately coordinated with Begumganj Police Station for prompt action.
A police team was dispatched to the spot and recovered five country-made single-barrel guns and one pipe gun from the grave.
As the location falls near the border of Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts - and technically under Chandraganj Police Station of Lakshmipur - the recovered weapons were handed over to Chandraganj Police for further investigation.
Police said legal procedures are underway.
