DHAKA, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - The Special Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) disposed of a total of 3,208 cases — including 2,794 criminal cases and 414 traffic cases — through summary trial courts in November 2025.
During these operations, 4,399 individuals were arrested, of whom 1,704 received various sentences.
Summary trials allow the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court to quickly process non-serious offenses and minor crimes under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Law Officer (District Judge) Mohammad Ataul Haque provided detailed statistics on case disposal and arrests across DMP’s divisions.
In the Motijheel Division, police arrested 355 individuals and filed 282 cases. Fines amounted to Tk 2,11,900, while 226 people were sentenced.
The Wari Division arrested 280 people and filed 219 cases, resulting in Tk 1,07,400 in fines and 119 sentences.
The Tejgaon Division arrested 863 people, filed 306 cases, collected Tk 1,25,900 in fines, and saw 134 convictions.
The Gulshan Division arrested 423 individuals and filed 238 cases, with Tk 85,350 in fines and 14 sentences delivered.
The Lalbagh Division arrested 281 people and filed 217 cases, imposing Tk 1,01,400 in fines and sentencing 203 individuals.
The Mirpur Division arrested the highest number — 1,039 people — filing 484 cases, imposing Tk 2,70,900 in fines, and sentencing 393 individuals.
The Uttara Division filed 809 cases against 809 arrested individuals, issuing Tk 5,61,200 in fines and handing down 442 sentences.
The Ramna Division arrested 349 people, filed 239 cases, collected Tk 1,35,600 in fines, and sentenced 173 individuals.
Traffic cases were also handled across several divisions. The Motijheel Traffic Division settled 37 of 736 cases with Tk 93,200 in fines, while the Tejgaon Division resolved 35 of 1,169 cases, imposing Tk 46,900 in fines.
The Wari Division disposed of 26 of 367 cases with Tk 35,650 in fines, and the Gulshan Division resolved 42 of 1,288 traffic cases, collecting Tk 42,200.
In the Mirpur Traffic Division, 67 of 1,077 cases were settled with fines totaling Tk 98,000. The Ramna Division disposed of 46 of 709 cases (Tk 49,500 in fines), while the Lalbagh Division settled 64 of 697 cases (Tk 34,800 in fines).
The Uttara Division resolved 97 of 990 cases, imposing Tk 1,71,400 in fines.
