Two-day international orthopedic scientific conference begins Sunday

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - The two-day International Scientific Conference of the Bangladesh Orthopedic Society (BOS) will commence here on Sunday, creating a platform for physicians to share their experience and expertise. 

BOS is organizing this conference dubbed "BOSCON-2025", revealed the society at a press conference today at the National Press Club.

In a written statement, BOS Member Secretary Dr Erfanul Haq Siddiqui said over 2,000 orthopedic specialist doctors from home and abroad, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Japan, will participate in the conference, which is expected to make a significant contribution to advancing the country's modern healthcare system.

Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman will attend the inaugural session as the chief guest at 6:30pm on Sunday, Dr Erfanul Haq added. 

The two-day BOSCON will be held at two venues. On November 30, the first day's programme will take place from 8:00am to 10:00pm at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital.

The closing ceremony of the conference will be held on December 1 from 8:00am to 6:00pm at Shaheed Abu Saeed Convention Centre of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU).

The programme will also be attended by Health Service Division Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman, BMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Md Abu Zafar and other distinguished guests.

BOS Convener Professor Dr Abul Kenan said that at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), many important organ replacements are carried out, but many people are unaware of it.

 He expressed the hope that the BOSCON conference will highlight new issues related to this.

BOSCON Organizing Committee Chairman Professor Dr Wakil Ahmed said that surgeries would be conducted at the National Orthopedic Hospital by experienced surgeons from home and abroad. He added that over 1,500 participants have already registered for the conference.

 The conference aims to emphasize measures for providing quality services to orthopedic patients, allowing doctors to exchange their experience and expertise, which will contribute significantly to the country's modern healthcare system.

BOSCON Organizing Committee Secretary Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Dr Sirajus Salehin and Associate Professor Dr Alamgir Kabir Jony of the NITOR were present at the press conference.
