DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Member of Parliament (MP) from Dinajpur-3 constituency Iqbalur Rahim and his wife Nadira Sultana Mukti over graft allegations.

Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the orders, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the petition filed regarding Iqbalur Rahim, it was alleged that he abused his power and, through extortion, tender manipulation, irregularities and corruption, misappropriated government funds and unlawfully accumulated assets worth Taka 12.22 crore.

It further stated that around Taka 35 crore was transferred, moved and converted through 24 bank accounts under his name and in the names of various entities.

A case was filed against him under the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act, which is currently under investigation. The petition stated that, in the interest of probe, Iqbalur Rahim's foreign travel needs to be restricted.

In the petition concerning Nadira Sultana Mukti, it was stated that a portion of the illegally accumulated wealth of Iqbalur Rahim was shown under her ownership with the dishonest intention of legalising it.

Through collusion, she allegedly acquired and possessed Taka 74.82 lakh in illegal assets.

A case was filed against her in this regard, which is also under investigation.

The petition said that, for the sake of the investigation, Nadira Sultana Mukti's foreign travel should also be restricted.
