DHAKA, May 25, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today greeted all media workers, including editors, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In a greeting message, he said mass media workers had been performing their duties boldly in favour of truth and justice at every crucial moment in the nation’s history. “Starting from the Liberation War, the nation remembers the contributions of media workers with gratitude at every stage of the country’s democratic progress,” he said.
The state minister said the flow of information has become easier due to the rapid expansion of technology, while the spread of fake videos, distorted images and misleading information through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has alarmingly increased.
Therefore, the responsibility, professionalism and importance of fact-checking among media workers are greater now than ever before.
Highlighting the role of political leadership in establishing democracy and advancing the development of Bangladesh, the state minister referred to the visionary leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the struggle of uncompromising leader Begum Khaleda Zia and the modern state theory introduced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
“Their contributions have also played important roles in infrastructural development, economic growth and the consolidation of multi-party democracy,” Yasser added.
The state minister said Eid-ul-Azha teaches sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood, adding, “If we remain steadfast on the path of truth, justice and humanity, inspired by the spirit of this holy festival, then a developed, prosperous and tolerant Bangladesh can be built.”
He wished happiness, peace and prosperity for all media workers and their family members and expressed hope that the holy Eid-ul-Azha would bring happiness to their lives.
