DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the allegations of smuggling, trading hundi, customs evasion, acquiring illegal wealth and money laundering against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader's foster son Md. Asaduzzaman Hiru.
ACC Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department Md Akhtarul Islam disclosed the information to the journalists during its regular media briefing at the commission headquarters here.
According to the ACC, Asaduzzaman Hiru is a director of National Development Engineers Ltd. (NDE) and president of Gulshan-1 DNCC Market. He is also the owner of several business houses, including Paragon, London Touch, Paris Group, and West Field. Hiru and his wife Israt Jahan are accused of amassing huge wealth through extortion, manipulation of tenders and tax fraud by exerting political influence.
Following a preliminary assessment of the allegations, the commission has formed a two-member investigation team. The team will be led by Assistant Director Md. Nasrullah Hossain with Deputy Assistant Director Md. Abu Talha as a member.
The ACC further stated that Hiru's biological father is Akhtaruzzaman. Their family home is at Uttar Shimulia village of Dohar upazila in Dhaka district.
