DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that if Sheikh Hasina's crime is punished appropriately, it will set an example.

He made the remarks at a press conference held at the BNP central office in the capital's Nayapaltan.

Rizvi said that the previous fascist government had been spreading propaganda controlling the media. He added that the type of court orders seen during Sheikh Hasina's tenure will not happen now, which is the belief of the people.

"The people want a fair trial. They are witnessing and will continue to witness that fair trial," he said.

He continued, "We want a peaceful Bangladesh, where people of all believes can express their opinions beautifully and the voting will be smooth, fair and inclusive."

The BNP leader further said that the brutality is being remembered with which the law enforcement agencies of the country killed Abu Sayeed, Mughda and Wasim Akram, along with the horrors they displayed by killing children indiscriminately.

He went on, "Those who committed crimes during the past fascist era; gave orders-- are shamelessly setting buses on fire. Cocktails are being bought with looted money from various banks. The money for sabotage is coming from the money embezzled from the Padma Bridge and Metrorail."

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that during the fascist era, propaganda was carried out against leaders and activists agitating for democracy by controlling the media.

He said, "Even then, we repeatedly stated that the fire incidents had nothing to do with those who love democracy, nor with BNP leaders and activists. We also provided clear evidence at that time. The pattern of those arson terrorism and their responsibility is now visible."

Commenting on Sheikh Hasina's instructions from abroad, Rizvi said, "Her directives while saying in India are not legal. Why is India allowing this to happen? By sheltering criminals and giving them an opportunity to sabotage Bangladesh, India is violating the law. The people of Bangladesh are not viewing this positively; such behavior is unexpected."

Rizvi further said that, like last year, orders have again been issued this time not to hold any kind of event, including cake-cutting, on the occasion of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's birthday next Thursday (November 20).

He added that if anyone is considering organizing an event, they will have to donate that money instead.

BNP Joint Secretary General Habib Un-Nabi-Khan Sohel, Abdus Salam Azad, Organizing Secretary Syedul Alam Babul and others were also present at the press conference.
