Joldhi' Book Review Competition -2025 held with literary warmth

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS)- The award-giving ceremony of the Jolodhi Book Review Competition 2025, centered on the works of noted fiction writer Nasreen Jahan, was held today.

The ceremony was held at Hall Room 505 of the Bishya Shahitya Kendro.

The event began with a welcome speech by Nahida Ashrafi editor, publisher of the Joldhi.

Writer Khalikuzzaman Elias attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while poets and writers Khaled Hossain and Ashraf Ahmad were present as special guests.

Writers and literary personalities including Sirajul Islam, Dilara Mesbah, Parveen Sultana, Moni Haidar, Ishrat Tania, Mohammad Nurul Haque, and Laboni Mondal delivered congratulatory remarks. 

Poetry recitations were performed by Shirin Baby, Mahi Farhana and Sangeeta Khan at the ceremonial event.

A total of 53 participants from across the country took part in the competition. 

After two rounds of evaluation, the judges selected the top five reviewers: Shaheerin Arafat secured first place, followed by Sohel Majhar (second), Ilyas Babor (third), Jahangir Hossain (fourth), and Nishith Shorongi (fifth).

The top three winners shared their reflections at the event, while fiction writer Nasreen Jahan also expressed her appreciation regarding the initiative.

The competition aims to encourage reading habits and promote critical thinking among readers.

At the end of the ceremony, winners received crests, certificates, and prize money.

Addressing the chief guest's speech, Khalikuzzaman Elias acclaimed writer Nasreen Jahan for her brilliant work in the field of literature.

Urging the writer to continue doing better, Khalikuzzaman said, "Nasreen is undoubtedly a powerful and prolific writer. There are magical and metaphorical touches in her works."


Speaking at the event Nasreen Jahan shared her journey in this field and asked prayers from readers and well wishers.
