CHATTOGRAM, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 1.2 kg of gold was recovered from five passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG136 from Jeddah. Out of this, 700 grams of gold were seized.
The flight landed at the airport at 9:30 am on Wednesday. Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil reported that a passenger named Jasmin Akhtar was found with 200 grams of gold. According to baggage rules, Jasmin was allowed to keep 100 grams of gold, and the remaining 100 grams were deposited as Money (DM). Another passenger, Md. Nasir, was found with 250 grams of gold. Following the rules, Nasir was allowed to keep 100 grams, and the remaining 150 grams were deposited as Money (DM).
Mohammad Masum Karim Chowdhury was found with 300 grams of gold. He was given 100 grams and the remaining 200 grams were confiscated. Kazi Monowara Begum had 250 grams of gold, 100 grams were confiscated, and 150 grams were confiscated. Yasmin Akhter had 200 grams of gold, 100 grams were confiscated, and 100 grams were confiscated.
In total, the five passengers collectively carried 1.2 kilograms of gold. Of this, 500 grams were returned to them in line with customs regulations, and 700 grams were seized.
All five passengers were released after receiving a verbal warning, the airport official added.
