CHATTOGRAM, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) – Fertilizer production resumed today at the state-owned Chattogram Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL), Anwara upazila after a six-month shutdown.
Earlier, production had been halted twice this year due to mechanical issues — from January 3 to February 25, and again from April 11 to October 18. Gas supply to the factory was restored on October 19.
CUFL Managing Director Mizanur Rahman said fertilizer production at the factory restarted this morning following the resumption of gas supply.
The factory requires 48 to 52 million cubic feet of gas daily. At present, CUFL has the capacity to produce 1,200 metric tons of urea per day and 310,000 metric tons of ammonia annually.
The government established the fertilizer factory at Rangadia in Anwara upazila on the south bank of the Karnaphuli River on October 29, 1987, with technical assistance from Japan.
