TANGAIL, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), today announced that BNP is focusing on the upcoming parliamentary election in February.

“The parliamentary election is the paramount agenda for the nation,” he said while speaking to journalists in the district before attending the 47th founding anniversary of the Basail Upazila Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal at Basail bus-stand area under the upazila.

In his speech, Ahmed Azam Khan firmly stated that the referendum could only occur after the parliamentary election, not in November, December, January, or February.

He detailed the proposed timeline, explaining that the referendum may be held only after the newly elected parliament passes the agendas related to the ‘July Charter’, which has been mutually agreed upon.

At that point, he expected the referendum to achieve widespread support.

The Vice Chairman also provided updates on the party’s leadership, announcing that Tarique Rahman is eager to return to the country.

Ahmed Azam Khan confirmed that the party, along with the entire population of Bangladesh, is eagerly preparing to welcome him.

He added that they are undertaking extensive preparations, and Tarique Rahman is also preparing for his arrival.

Regarding candidate selection, Azam Khan confirmed that BNP nominations are in the final stages and will be published very shortly in the newspapers.

The event was presided over by Shah Alam Bhuiyan, Member Secretary of the Basail Upazila Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.
