DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - France has reaffirmed its commitment to
supporting research initiatives that strengthen effective public actions to
address health challenges among vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.
The Embassy of France in Dhaka made the pledge while expressing appreciation
for the success of the "Heatmind for Women" initiative, a collaborative
project implemented by SAJIDA Foundation, the French Institute of Research
and Development (IRD), and BRAC University under the Team France Fund (FEF),
said the French embassy in Dhaka today.
The one-year pilot project studied the impact of extreme heat on women's
mental health in vulnerable communities in Satkhira and Gazipur, producing
valuable insights for future public health interventions.
A French Embassy delegation led by Deputy Head of Mission Frédéric Inza and
Cultural Attach‚ Baptiste Lebret today attended a debriefing session on the
project's findings, which highlighted encouraging results in understanding
and mitigating the mental health effects of climate-induced heat stress.
The French Embassy said France will continue to support research that
contributes to evidence-based policymaking and efficient public health
measures, particularly in addressing the needs of marginalized populations.
