Ex-lawmaker Fayzur on 2-day remand in murder attempt case

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-5 constituency, Fayzur Rahman, on a two-day remand in a case lodged with the capital's New Market Police Station over an attempt to murder during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed the order as the police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a three-day remand in the case.
A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Fayzur, also the president of Navinagar upazila Awami League in Brahmanbaria, from the capital's Nikunja area on September 28, 2025.
According to the case documents, a group of miscreants led by the Dhaka College unit of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League attacked a rally of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the area on July 19, 2024. They indiscriminately beat and hacked the protesters, seriously injuring them. 
A victim, Sajib Uddin, filed the case on February 4, 2025.
