DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Amanullah Aman today alleged that conspiracy was going on regarding the upcoming parliamentary election in 2026.
"A particular party is conspiring and plotting against the election in Bangladesh. They are also creating obstacles in various places ahead of the election," he said.
The BNP leader was addressing a commemorative discussion marking the second death anniversary of the Democratic League (DL) General Secretary Saifuddin Ahmed Moni at the National Press Club as the chief guest.
Regarding the PR (Proportional Representation) system, he said, "Those who had a controversial role during the country’s 1971 war of liberation are now trying to sabotage the election in the name of PR."
"We want to make it clear that nobody would be allowed to sabotage the much-desired election," added Aman.
The BNP leader also announced that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country soon and participate in the election campaign.
"The Chief Advisor of the interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus has announced that the national election will be held in the first half of February- 2026. Our leader Tarique Rahman will return to the country and take part in the election and he will lead the election campaign as well," he continued.
Claiming that Tarique Rahman's predictions in the July uprising has come true, Amanullah Aman said, "You will see that the words Tarique Rahman spoke have come true. I will give one or two examples. Tarique Rahman said that the path of the country will be decided on the streets, and finally the decision has indeed been made on the streets."
Mentioning the role of Zia Family for the country’s progress, he further said, "You have witnessed 16 years of agitation, you have witnessed the anti-autocracy, anti-Ershad movement—the Zia family and BNP stood by the people during the worst disasters, adversities and bad times."
With Democratic League Vice-President Mahbub Alam in the chair, its General Secretary Khokon Chandra Das moderated the event.
Chairman of the National People's Party Fariduzzaman Forhad, BNP leader Khairul Kabir Khokon, Syed Nurul Islam of the Samyabadi Dal, ATM Golam Maula Chowdhury of the Gonodal, and Convenor of the Global Bangladeshis Alliance for Human Rights and Chairman of Atish Dipankar University Trust Shamsul Alam Liton, among others, attended the event.
