RANGPUR, Oct 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP joint secretary general Habib-un -Nabi Khan Sohel has said that a group of people have raised questions about BNPs electoral symbol, which is unreasonable.
Because they can apply for their (NCP) symbol, whether the Election Commission will accept it or not it is their business and there is nothing to say about that, he said.
“However, the BNP’s symbol with which election has been held for ages. They are opposing that symbol, and people are not even looking at it well,” he added.
Sohel said this in response to a question from reporters before attending the condolence meeting and dua mehfil of Rangpur district BNP member-secretary Anisur Rahman Laku at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium this afternoon.
Earlier, Anisur Rahman Laku passed away at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital following a massive cardiac arrest while returning from Dhaka last Wednesday.
Regarding the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Sohel said that he recently had an open discussion about when he would return to the country and participate in the elections.
“Still, I will say that he will return home on time and participate as a candidate in the next Jatiya Sangsad election,” he added.
Regarding the party nomination, he said, BNP is a popular party. There is not just one candidate in a seat, but many candidates. There are 8-10 candidates in almost all seats.
“Therefore, the party will nominate only those who can take care of the people's facilities and those whom it considers worthy,” he said.
Later, he participated in the condolence meeting and prayer mahfil of Rangpur district BNP member-secretary Anisur Rahman Laku as the key discussant in the evening.
The Rangpur district BNP organised the programme with its convener Md Saiful Islam in the chair.
BNP standing committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain attended the events as the chief guest.
BNP central executive committee organising secretary (Rangpur division) principal Asadul Habib Dulu, assistant organising secretaries (Rangpur division) Md Abdul Khaleque and Professor Aminul Islam, spoke as special guests.
