DHAKA, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today acquitted 22 leaders of BNP, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, from a case under explosive substances act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sabbir Foyez today accepted the final report of the case submitted by police and acquitted all the accused from the charge.
The prominent BNP leaders who were acquitted from the case are BNP central committee member Habibur Rahman Habib, general secretary of Dhaka South City Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal Rabiul Islam Nayon, Juba Dal leaders Nurul Islam Nayon, Khandkar Enamul Haque Enam, Sharif Uddin Juwel and Sajjadul Miraz.
Advocate Zakir Hossain Jewel, lawyer of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, confirmed the news to BSS.
According to the police, the accused persons were charged for setting fire to a double cabin vehicle of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in front of BNP’s central office at Naya Palton area on October 28, 2023 during BNP’s grand rally. They were also accused of attacking the law and order forces and hurling cocktails and brickbats at them.
Constable Shahin Alam, driver of the double cabin car of police, filed a case against the accused persons with Palton Thana on November 3, 2023 under explosive substances act.
The case was later shifted to the Detective Branch (DB) of the DMP and DB Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin Morshed submitted the final report of the case on February 25 last as he found no proof of the allegations against the BNP leaders during the investigation.
