DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Selima Rahman today said the Proportional Representation (PR) system would destroy the voting rights of the people.

"I don't even understand the PR system, so how will the people of the country understand it?" she said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled "Bangladesh's Democracy and Constitution in the Current Context" at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium.

Selima Rahman said that even after the fall of the fascist government, BNP is still fighting for the voting rights and democracy of the people.

She added that the fight is ongoing to protect the constitution. "Even after announcing the election roadmap, the losers of 1971 are trying to derail it. They cannot forget their past ideology, which is why they are conspiring to stop the election. BNP will not let that happen."

The BNP leader also commented that those who are carrying out clandestine attacks on the chief adviser's entourage aboard are shaming the nation.
