Bangladeshi student wins gold at Int'l Climate Olympiad in Russia

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - Tasin Mohammad, a Bangladeshi student, has won a gold medal at the International Olympiad on Climate Change and Environmental Issues (IOCE).

The weeklong Olympiad was held in Sochi, Russia.

Tasin, a student of BIAM Model School and College, was part of a five-member 
team representing Bangladesh at the global event and was selected for the 
gold medal for overall best performance and presentation.

High school students from around the world gathered at the event to address 
real-world challenges related to climate change and environmental 
sustainability.

The Bangladeshi delegation was led by Farhan Masud Tasin of BRAC University. 

Other team members included Mahdi Bin Ferdous from Bhashantek Government 
College, Md. Noor Ahmed from Rajshahi Collegiate School and Md. Ashiqur 
Rahman from Harimohan Government High School in Chapainawabganj.

In the event, Bangladeshi delegation in group presentations discussed the 
potential moves for tackling global environmental challenges alongside peers 
from other nations.

The Olympiad served as a platform for students to engage in problem-solving, 
research presentations, and collaborative discussions on critical 
environmental issues.
