Heavy Friday turnout at 12th Asian Tourism Fair in Dhaka

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) – The 12th Asian Tourism Fair drew a massive crowd on Friday, a weekly holiday, as visitors thronged the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) from morning, with the number of attendees swelling further in the afternoon.

Families, students, and travel enthusiasts filled the halls to explore special packages and discounts for the upcoming tourism season. 

Many visitors praised the fair for its role in promoting both domestic and international destinations.

“I visit the Asian Tourism Fair every year, and this time is no exception. Tour operators are offering special discounts and attractive packages. I believe such fairs will play a vital role in developing sustainable tourism in the country,” said Rezwan Kabir, who came with his family from Bashundhara City. 

Rahat Shikder, visiting from Dhanmondi, said events like this provide an opportunity to present Bangladesh’s tourism destinations to the world.”
The three-day fair, which began on Thursday, is showcasing attractive offers from airlines, hotels, resorts, tour operators, and travel agencies at 180 booths spread across two halls. Organised by Tourism Bichitra with support from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Board, and other partners, the event aims to promote regional tourism cooperation and highlight Bangladesh’s diverse destinations.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the title sponsor, while Nepal has joined as the prime partner country and the Philippines and Maldives as partner countries. 
The fair also features cultural programmes, investment showcases, panel discussions, and children’s art competitions.

The 12th Asian Tourism Fair will conclude tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 pm with Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan as chief guest at the closing ceremony.
