DHAKA, Sept 19, (BSS) - Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim today warned against attempts to govern the country based on 'foreign prescriptions' and said the people of Bangladesh will not accept such conspiracies.

"The Bangladeshi people will strictly reject any attempt to run the country under foreign influence. Let us never again support killers and extortionists. The post-August 5 political space must be used wisely," the Ameer said at a rally organized by Islami Andolan Bangladesh at Dolai Khal Truck Stand in the capital this afternoon.

He said, "Since independence, successive rulers have repeatedly pushed the country into disgrace, making it a land of enforced disappearances and killings. The people became fed up and brought down fascist rule. But now we are deeply concerned as some are once again trying to revive fascist tendencies."

Calling for support in the upcoming national election, Rezaul Karim urged the voters of Dhaka-6 constituency to elect the Hatpakha (Hand Fan) symbol to victory, adding, "people now want to place their trust in the beauty of Islam."
Dhaka-6 constituency candidate Alhaj Manowar Khan presided over the rally.

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Joint Secretary General and Dhaka South unit President Maulana Muhammad Imtiaz Alam, Assistant Secretary General Engineer KM Atikur Rahman, KM Shariatullah, and Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Islam were present as guests, among others.
