DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed his hope that his party is known as a symbol of service, justice, and efficiency; not a symbol of division or privilege.
"We want BNP to be known as a symbol of service, justice, and efficiency; not a symbol of division or privilege," he said in a post on his verified Facebook ID.
Tarique Rahman said his party is reaching out to every people particularly to the young generation before the February national election to gain their trust.
"Ahead of the national elections to be held in February, one of our responsibilities is to achieve the trust of every voter in the country. So, BNP, as a democratic political party, is reaching out to people regardless of classes and professions from the centre to grassroots," he said.
Tarique Rahman has called upon his party members to know the hopes and aspirations of the young generation of today and tomorrow and act accordingly to gain their trust and belief.
"It is further strengthening the organizational structure of the party from the village to the center. Through this concerted effort, we want to ensure transparency and accountability," he said.
Referring to taking action against BNP leaders and activists for their misdeed, Tarique Rahman has called upon his party men to work for the welfare of the people.
"Organizational actions have already been taken against over 7,000 party men on various allegations. Some have been relieved for their alleged corruption, extortion and misconduct. Many have been expelled," he said.
It was not easy to take such decisions amidst multifaceted propaganda, but they were essential in the context of reality, he said.
"Discipline is not a weakness; rather, it is our strength," he said.
By holding BNP members accountable, Tarique Rahman said they have proven once again that BNP is serious about integrity and that they hold themselves at the same standards for which they demand from those in power.
"This is how we want to rebuild the trust of the people - especially the youth, who do not want to see politics as just a game of power; rather, they want to see it as a great field developed with the participation of all," he said.
Tarique Rahman said BNP has always modernized itself to meet the needs and challenges of the times by strengthening direct connection and communication with the people.
"Our policies are based on a 31-point program, including commitments to education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change, and digital innovation," he said.
The BNP prioritizes inclusion and ensures participation of more women, young leaders, and professionals so that the nation moves forward and politics serve the people, he said.
The BNP acting chairman said that Bangladesh's current challenges are different, so BNP's actions must also be based on new thinking.
"However, we do not deny history; rather, we want to move forward on that basis. Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman brought back multi-party democracy and showed the people a ray of hope; he established people's empowerment at the center of politics," he said.
And the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia has fought uncompromisingly against tyranny and fascism to establish democracy and the rights of the masses, he said.
"Today, we are moving forward in a new era keeping in mind their aspirations; where honesty, young leadership and global competitiveness will be the important foundations of state building," he said.
Holding on to its tradition, BNP is prioritizing the path of building a disciplined, future-oriented and modern Bangladesh, he said.
"We know that the youth want real opportunities, they do not want empty words. The people want stability, they do not want chaos. And the world wants Bangladesh to be a credible and respected democratic state. We are determined to fulfill these expectations," he said.
Tarique Rahman has called upon his party men to remain united and committed to serving the people.
"To my colleagues and leaders, I would like to say - let us remain united, disciplined, and committed to serving the people. Just as I trust each of you, you should also trust me," he said.
He continued: "Only then the path of democracy will be brighter. Together, we will prove that it is possible to build an accountable state mechanism, a stable institutional structure, and a future desired by the people in Bangladesh, InshaAllah".
