Addl DIG Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury dies

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) -Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police Md. Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury died in a city hospital today. 

He breathed his last at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital in the capital around 5:30 am today, said a police press release. 

Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury was 52 years old. He is survived by his wife, two sons and many relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He will be buried in the family graveyard at his Mansur village house under Kulaura Police Station of Moulvibazar district after Esha prayer today.


His namaj-e-janaja was held at SI Shiru Mia Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines this morning. 

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam heads of various units, police officers and members, and colleagues and relatives of the deceased were present during the Janaja.

The police chief and Bangladesh Police Service Association and 20th BCS (Police) batch paid rich tribute to the deceased by placing wreaths on his coffin. 

The deceased was given an official funeral.

Md. Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 2001 as a member of the 20th BCS (Police) batch. 

He was working as an AIG in the Media, D&PS and Crime East branches of Police Headquarters. He was last working as Additional DIG (Inspection-1) at Police Headquarters. He served in East Timor in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.

Jala was born in 1973 in a respectable Muslim family in Mansur village of Kulaura police station of Moulvibazar district.

In a condolence message, the IGP said that the late Md. Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury was performing his duties with great efficiency and reputation.

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
