DHAKA, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested four leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from different parts of the capital for their alleged involvement in destabilizing the country.
The arrested have been identified as Joint Convener of Charghat Upazila AL, Rajshahi, former Charghat Upazila Jubo League President Kazi Mahmudul Hasan Mamun (42), former member of Patuakhali District AL, former Organizing Secretary of Patuakhali District Jubo League, former Vice Chairman of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila, Md. Mizanur Rahman Monir (48), former Krishak League general secretary and former chairman of Kalikapur Union Parishad, Salma Jahan (40) and Gazipur district Tongi Thana Jubo League vice-president and Gazipur City Corporation ward 55 joint convener Md. Mostafizur Rahman Titu (52).
Separate teams of DB arrested the four Hatirjheel, Dhanmondi Wireless Center and Khilgaon Chowdhury Para areas on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of DB (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DM) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
Cases have been registered against the detainees with various police stations on specific charges.
The arrestees were accused of destabilizing the country by bringing out sudden processions at different parts of the capital city.
