DINAJPUR, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today launched a drive to collect samples of materials used to renovate the Dinajpur-Gabindaganj Regional Highway as there was allegation of corruption during renovation and widening the road by the Roads and Highways Department.
Deputy Director of the District Integrated Office of the ACC Md Ataur Rahman led the drive from 12 noon to 3.30pm where the concerned officials of the Roads and Highway Department (RHD) were also present.
Md Khairul Bashar, Assistant Director (AD) of the ACC, said that they launched the drive following an approval from the ACC headquarters on the allegations of huge corruption in widening and construction of the highway. The extent of corruption would be cleared after testing the collected samples properly, the AD said.
There was a massive allegation of corruption in the Taka 882 crore project for widening and construction of Dinajpur-Gabindaganj Highway, he added.
Sub-Divisional Engineer of the RHD Dinajpur-Fulbaria sub-division Amanullah Aman said that the department has provided all relevant documents to the ACC for proper investigation.
According to the ACC, the government in 2017-2018 financial year sanctioned Taka 882 crore for upgrading the Dinajpur-Gabindaganj Regional Highway that was completed in December 2021. The condition of the highway became very bad within two years of the completion of the project.
