DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today called on Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle at her residence in the capital.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various bilateral and national issues, including the forthcoming national elections, the proportional representation (PR) system and Jamaat's role in strengthening democratic practices in Bangladesh.

The delegation also elaborated on Jamaat's stance regarding women's rights and empowerment in economic, social and administrative spheres. 

They further exchanged views on Bangladesh's economic prospects, particularly in the energy and garment sectors.

The Jamaat delegation was led by Nayeb-e-Ameer and former Member of Parliament Dr Syed Abdullah Md Taher. 

Other members included Central Executive Council Member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand and Central Working Committee Members of the Women's Department Advocate Sabikunnahar Munni and Dr Habiba Chowdhury Sweet.

On the Australian side, Deputy High Commissioner Clinton Pobke, First Secretary (Political) Anna Peterson and three other officials of the High Commission were present.

During the meeting, the Australian High Commissioner appreciated Jamaat's commitment to building a corruption-free society.
