3500 unnamed people sued over attack on Nural Pagla shrine in Rajbari

RAJBARI, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Police today filed a case against 3,500 unidentified people in connection with the Friday's attack on the shrine of Nurul Haque, locally known as "Nural Pagla" at Goalond Upazial in Rajbari district.

Sub Inspector (SI) Selim Molla filed the case as complainant against 3,000 to 3,500 unidentified people with Goalandghat Police Station early today, Inspector (investigation) Rashidul Islam also investigation officer of the case, told BSS today.

He said all have been accused of obstructing police from performing their government duty, vandalising government property, and arson.

Two police vehicles were vandalized during the mayhem, he said.

He also said none is yet to arrest, adding that they are now on hot pursuit to capture the accused after identifying them from the video footage of the spot and its surrounding areas.

Earlier on Friday, hundreds of people attacked the "Darbar Sharif" of Nural Pagla and exhumed his body from the grave and set it on fire. 

The police inspector, however, said no murder case has yet been filed as one was killed during the sporadic clashes.
