RAJSHAHI, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police pressed charges in nine cases accusing
529, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Rajshahi City mayor
Liton, for their involvement in attacking the anti-discrimination students
movement in July and August, 2024 in Rajshahi.
Detective Branch (DB) at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) investigated the
cases thoroughly.
Court Inspector Abdur Rafique said they received the charge sheets in the
last three consecutive days.
In the July-August movement, two students were killed in Rajshahi and 244
Awami League leaders and workers were accused in the two killing cases.
Apart from this, 285 other people were accused in seven other cases.
Gaziur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media), at RMP told BSS that the Awami
League leaders and workers brutally killed university student Sakib Anjum and
Raihan Ali in Sagarpara area on August 5, 2024.
In addition to the killing, they were also accused of ransacking, bomb
explosion and firearms, he added.
