Kidney care centre to be established in Mohakhali
DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Sonar Bangla Foundation-Bangladesh today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a 'Comprehensive Kidney Care Center' in city's Mohakhali to ensure affordable dialysis services and world-class treatment facilities for kidney patients.
The agreement was signed at the conference room of Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan here.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mamun-ul-Hasan (retd) and Sonar Bangla Foundation Country Director and CEO Md Asadul Islam inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz attended the signing ceremony as the chief guest while Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury presided over the event.
According to the agreement, in the first phase, a 50-bed dialysis unit will be launched at the dedicated Covid hospital in Mohakhali. The facility will offer low-cost dialysis services to cater to the growing number of kidney patients in the capital.
In the subsequent phase, the center will be transformed into a specialized hospital equipped with advanced facilities for comprehensive kidney care, including kidney transplantation.
Speaking on the occasion, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz said the city corporation will extend all necessary support to transform the dialysis unit into a full-fledged specialized hospital.
"This collaboration with Sonar Bangla Foundation marks a significant milestone in expanding access to affordable and quality kidney treatment in Dhaka," he added.
