No alternative to national polls for overcoming crisis: Ganatantra Mancha

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion today emphasized that there is no alternative to hold national elections in overcoming the existing political crisis in the country.

The meeting, titled “Current Political Reality and What to Do”, was organized by Ganatantra Mancha at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here. 

Senior Vice President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Tania Rob presided over the programme while JSD’s Assistant-Office Secretary Farhan Habib moderated it.

Leaders of various political parties and civil society organizations participated in the discussion and urged the authorities concerned to ensure free, fair and impartial polls.

Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Mass Solidarity Movement Chief Coordinator Jonayed Saki, Bhashani Janashakti Party Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, State Reform Movement Finance Affairs Coordinator Didarul Bhuiyan, Nagorik Oikya General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser and Mass Solidarity Movement Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel spoke at the event.

The speakers welcomed the announcement of an election roadmap by the interim government and the Election Commission, stating that such initiatives are essential for   constitutional continuity and democratic governance.

They also called upon all political parties to prioritize national interest above partisan agendas and urged them to make necessary concessions to ensure peaceful, inclusive, and participatory elections.

The platform expressed its continued support for ongoing reforms and reiterated its commitment to stand by the government in the future as well.

The speakers further stressed the need for strengthening the efficiency and accountability of the administration to facilitate a free, fair, and credible national election.
