KHULNA, Aug 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former parliament member Mia Golam Parwar has said that as an election-oriented political party, Jamaat-e-Islami will participate in the next national election; however, no election will be accepted without fundamental reforms.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a gathering at a rice mill yard in Maltia village under Atlia Union of Dumuria Upazila on Thursday evening.
He urged grassroots leaders to form committees to reach out to female voters, who make up nearly half of the electorate.
Union Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman presided over the event, while Khulna District Jamaat Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Prof. Mia Golam Kuddus, District Executive Member Advocate Abu Yusuf Molla, and educationist Dr. Ekram Uddin Suman, among others, addressed the gathering.
"Bangladesh must be rebuilt as envisioned by the students and masses who earned the new country through their sacrifices," he said.
Mia Golam Parwar said the July Charter undermined the contribution of 1947 and ignored the sacrifices of religious scholars. He also stressed that history must be represented truthfully in the charter ahead of the election and noted that the blood of those killed and injured in movements must be honored.
"The new Bangladesh will be fully independent, protect people's rights, achieve food self-sufficiency, and establish a fair justice system," Parwar declared.
