DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested ringleader of robbers with his two accomplices for their alleged involvement in a recent attack on a temporary police camp at Gazaria in Munshiganj district.

The RAB arrested ringleader Ripon of a robber gang Ripon-Nayon-Piyas and his two accomplices from Dhaka and Gazipur districts, Director General of RAB AKM Shahidur Rahman told a news briefing at its media centre in Kawran Bazar here today.   
 
The RAB has intensified intelligence surveillance to capture members of Nayon, Piyas and Ripon after they attacked the temporary police camp in Jamalpur, Guagachia Union under Gazaria Upazila in Munshiganj district using firearms and locally made explosives. 

During the attack, they also used weapons previously looted from a police station on August 25 evening. 

Highlighting the recent achievement of the force, the RAB chief said, “RAB will conduct more drives in future in upholding rule of law, protecting human rights, ensuring security of all citizens, identifying and preventing crimes and bringing criminals to justice.” 

Shahidur said they arrested Md. Shukur Hossain alias Shooter Shukur (42) along with two firearms and 12 rounds of ammunition in a raid at a house in Rahmatbagh area under Kadamtali police station in the capital on August 27 last. 

 “One of the recovered pistols was a looted firearm of the police,” he said. 

In addition, Md. Saidul Islam Swapan was arrested on August 17, 2025 from Ghatarchar Elahingar area under Keraniganj Model Police Station in Dhaka with a pistol, magazine and 10 rounds of live ammunition looted from Mohammadpur Police Station by some miscreants during the July-August anti-discrimination movement.

“RAB since August 5 last year has so far seized 323 firearms (230 of police and 93 of RAB) and 19,304 rounds of ammunition and 150 magazines looted from the police,” he said.
