DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 28 alleged criminals on various charges during a special anti-crime drive in the Mohammadpur area of the capital.
"We conducted the operation to curb criminal activities in the area and arrested 28 persons involved in different crimes," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Rafiq Ahmed told BSS today.
He said the special operation will continue to make Mohammadpur a crime-free area.
According to police, the arrestees were picked up yesterday from different spots under Mohammadpur Police Station.
The detainees are Ahmed Hossain, 21, Al Amin, 28, Johnny, 30, Sunny, 33, Sajjad, 40, Mithun, 25, Rana, 20, Shahjalal, 23, Madhob Halder, 22, Shahidul Islam, 45, Rabiul, 22, Hanif, 20, Anwar Hossain, 22, Tanvir alias Ramzan, 32, Shahadat Shuvo, 31, Rubel, 25, Hridoy, 24, Swapan, 22, Sultan, 25, Saddam, 30, Manik Molla, 25, Tamim Molla, 22, Selim, 22, Anwar, 22, Hridoy, 22, Tayeb Miah, 25, Sohel Miah, 19, and Bhuiyan Abu Shahadat, 54.
During the raid, police also recovered 345 grams of marijuana, 48 yaba tablets, an axe, a hatchet, an iron rod and Taka 1,450 in cash.
Police said the arrestees include individuals facing regular cases, those with outstanding warrants and others accused of various crimes.
They were produced before the court today.
