Dhaka, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Environment conducted simultaneous mobile court drives across the country to enforce the Environment Conservation Act and related regulations today.
In Jashore and Dhaka metropolitan areas (Chawkbazar and Shantinagar), three mobile court drives were conducted against the production, sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene, said a press release.
During the drive, a total of seven cases were filed, fines amounting to Taka 101,000 were realized, and 1,220 kg of banned polythene were seized.
Supermarket owners, shopkeepers, and members of the public were also served cautionary notices, and awareness leaflets were distributed.
Under the Noise Pollution Control Rules 2006, six mobile court drives were conducted in Cox’s Bazar, Panchagarh, Rangpur, Rajbari, Narayanganj, and Keraniganj (Dhaka district).
A total of 19 cases were filed, resulting in fines of Taka 26,800. Thirty hydraulic horns were seized, and several vehicle drivers were cautioned.
In Dhaka’s Khilkhet area, one mobile court drive was carried out against excessive black smoke emissions from vehicles.
Four cases were filed, fines of Taka 10,000 were realized, and the concerned drivers were warned.
Furthermore, under the Air Pollution Control Rules 2022, two mobile court drives were conducted in Panchagarh and Dhaka metropolitan areas (Banasree and Rampura) against air pollution caused by construction materials.
A total of three cases were filed, fines totaling Taka 31,000 were realized, and nearby establishment owners were cautioned. Immediate removal of the construction materials was also ordered.
